About Me

I’m Rodel, a 24 years old, software developer from the Philippines.

Presently, I am working and running a start-up Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Freshwater Software LLC. I am leading the architecture and development of an innovative e-commerce platform.

In recent years, I worked as consultant for a Danish firm Multishop Aps, implementing shopping cart software for its chain of online retail sites. Later we formed a partnership registered as Freshwater Software LLC (FWSI). Prior to founding FWSI, I was the lead software engineer of GSoft Solutions Inc., a Microsoft Partner ISV specialized in research and development of university solutions. I headed the development of LISA, a 6th version web, windows and pda-based commercial library software designed for university and corporate resource centers. LISA is now being used by Philippines’ largest schools and universities. I worked also in a multinational ceramic firm HCG Philippines delivering solutions for HR, Accounting, and Logistics departments.

I am a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP-.NET). I have been given Most Valuable Professional (MVP-C#) recognition from Microsoft in 2 years row. Years ago, we founded Philippine .NET Users Group (PHINUG) and been an active contributor of developer communities at www.msforums.ph and www.devpinoy.org. I am holdng a Bachelor of Science In Computer Science degree from STI.

Why am I blogging?

I blog because as a developer, I felt I have the responsibility to share.

This journal is an attempt to share my personal perspective on everything except software development. As you may have observed its about my personal life, challenges at work, with people, family and relationship, politics, and oppurtunities. As an aspiring entrepreneur, I also write about setting up, running and managing a small start-up IT firm.
